WF16 Drums Alive!® with Lois Kosowan * (ages 14 & up) Starts Wed. Jan.16


This is a terrific new way to increase your energy, improve your co-ordination, sleep better and get fit. It’s as simple as picking up a rhythm stick, aiming it a stability or exercise ball, listening to the beat of popular Latin, cultural and modern tunes, and then starting to move and drum, guided by your instructor. No class date: Jan. 30

Equipment required:
Bring your own stability ball (65CM OR larger). Limited number of smaller balls are available. Please request when registering in the 'Company' field when registering online. Also bring a water bottle, comfortable clothing, non-marking-soled gym shoes and a small towel. No musical ability required.(Optional: weightlifting gloves if you wish to protect your palms while drumming.)

l fitness classes are open to ages 14 years and up.
BRING a dry, pebble-free change of non-marking-soled gym shoes for your classes. Classes may be postponed due to prior claim to facilities by the school or if the instructor / substitute is unavailable. A make-up class will be added where possible, if a cancellation date occurs.
DISCOUNT: Save $7 when you register to attend two fitness classes. Save $15 when you register to attend three!

General Policies regarding programs offered by Continuing Education at RETSD
Please read the following regarding fees, refunds, policies, etc.

- Please ensure that the telephone number you provide on your registration form will allow us to reach you during the day.
- Registration is not complete and your space is not confirmed until your fees are paid in full.
- Courses remain online until after the start date of each course posted.
Only online registrations generate confirmations. No other confirmations will be sent out to registrants. Therefore, when you register, be sure to mark your calendar, note any prerequisites, special instructions, material fees to be paid to instructors at your first class.

Assume the class is a 'go' unless otherwise contacted. You are welcome to check with the office on the 'status' of your class or how registrations are going, by emailing (Remove the extra '@@' symbols before you email) or by calling 204.667.6193 during our Continuing Education office hours: Mon., Tues., Fri. 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. or Wed./Thurs. 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.

- Once courses can be viewed online, students may register immediately for the WINTER and SPRING sessions by all registration/payment methods listed further below.

Special FALL season registration instructions:
Early May - FALL Registration begins ONLY for Fifth Class Power Engineering.
First week of July - FALL Registration begins online and by mail / fax only.

Registrations are accepted until the course is full. Fill out the registration form, complete it, and mail it, plus a cheque or credit card information for the full payment due for your course.

Fax your registration to our 24-hour fax service. Include your Visa or Mastercard number or follow up with payment by mail or in person. Please confirm that we have received your fax registration by phoning 204.667.6193.

Confirmation is sent only for online registrations. Confirmations WILL NOT be phoned or mailed; please attend the first class as advertised. If registering by fax, please confirm by phone. We will contact you ONLY if your course is cancelled or if there have been changes to the advertised schedule. Registration is not complete until fees are paid in full. Official receipts will be handed out at your first class.

What If my employer is paying for my course?
We require authorization on company letterhead and we will invoice your employer.

Duplicate transcripts/receipts
Please retain your course receipts, certificates and course reports. Charges apply for requests for any re-prints of the following. Note that processing may require up to two weeks.
Duplicate receipts - $5 per receipt.
Duplicate certificates or reports - $10 per certificate.

River East Transcona Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel or postpone courses or specific classes due to unavailability of instructors, prior claim to facilities by a school, insufficient enrolment, inclement weather, statutory holidays or emergencies. For unscheduled cancellations/postponements, reasonable effort will be made, depending on the length of notice the Continuing Education Office receives, to notify participants prior to the session(s) affected. Normally, postponed classes will be "made-up" at the end of the course if the schedule allows. Compensation will not be provided to students who - because of scheduling conflicts - cannot attend a scheduled class or a class that has to be rescheduled.

**NOTE: Occasionally, due to unforseen circumstances, instructor may be different than instructor listed in brochure.

Full refunds will be issued for courses cancelled due to insufficient enrolment. You may choose to use the refund toward the fee for another course.

Refunds are also available if you choose to voluntarily withdraw from a course before it starts. Please note that a $10 administration charge will be deducted from your refund. Refunds are not granted after a course begins or for a one-session class. Note: Non-attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal.

Please note the date, room, time and location of your first class in your calendar. Please contact our office if you would like to confirm parking or the door you need to use for your program: 204.667.6193.
Usually the school doors are open only for the 15 minutes before your class begins, and 15 minutes after it has begun, except for classes located in high schools. Exception may apply.

If you find the school doors are locked, when you arrive at the school, check the time and location of your registration. If it is correct try another door, if the door you try is locked. If you have any trouble gaining access to your scheduled class, try contacting the office at 204.667.6193 (Mondays-Thursdays only), or at any time - try the Coordinator by text (or voice) at 204.612.7589.

NOTE for classes at the the following schools:
Murdoch MacKay Collegiate: Please park and enter at the East (back) entrance. Classes are held in South East wing of school.
Miles Macdonell Collegiate: Use the small staff door in the NW corner of the staff parking lot off Chelsea Avenue.
Kildonan East Collegiate: Use the door at the front of the school. Visitor parking is available in the lot facing Concordia Ave.

FOR ALL GYM CLASSES Please bring a change of footwear and wear workout shoes with non-marking soles. For Ballrom Dance - bring non-marking leather or other soft-soled shoes. For Gymnastics - no footware required. Children engage in these activities in bare feet.

Please ensure that the class participants and instructor are not interrupted by the use of cell phones or other mobile devices. Please do not record (photo, video) any portion of the class or participants.

Please be sure to drop off / pick up your child at the room or gym scheduled for the activity. Ensure the instructor is present in the room, to take over the care of your child. Occasionally an instructor may be delayed due to traffic or weather, or in very unusual situations, may be involved in an emergency and the office has been unable to reach you in time to let you know the class has had to be rescheduled.
If you are observing your child(ren) during classes, and you have other children / siblings in your care, please ensure that the children who are not registered in the activity do not disturb or interrupt the students, class activities, instructor, and do not get involved with school equipment. Parents may be asked to wait outside of the gym or theatre for some classes to ensure the children are focused on the instructor's explanations and guidance.
